Join Us January 30 at the State Capitol to Advocate for Recovery Support Services
The Missouri Faith Community Substance Abuse Resource Network is calling recovery support service providers and recipients of recovery support services to meet with your legislators January 30 at the State Capitol in Jefferson City.  The purpose of the trip is to convince legislators that recovery support services need to become a permanent part of the continuum of care for addiction and substance abuse treatment.  In other words, state dollars need to be provided for recovery support services so that when the federal Access to Recovery (ATR) grant ends, funds will still be available so that recovery support services can continue indefinitely.  We will meet in the rotunda of the Capitol building at 9 a.m. so you can pick up a packet with talking points and insert your organization’s brochure.  Then we’ll go individually to meet with the representatives and senators from our various districts.  If you’d like to receive the talking points ahead of time, you can request them by e-mail CCFC at ccfc.ccfc@att.net.  To look up the name of your senator, go to http://www.senate.mo.gov/llookup/leg_lookup.aspx and enter your 9-digit zip code. Your state representative can be found at http://www.house.state.mo.us/default.aspx?page=Clerk.
ATR Update
Applications are now being accepted from faith and community-based organizations interested in providing recovery support services as a vendor for the Missouri Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse.  To date, CCFC has received 56 applications from throughout the state.  To download the ATR application, go to http://www.dmh.missouri.gov/ada/ATR/ATRII.htm. Missouri received a three-year $14.2 million ATR grant in September 2007.  CCFC is responsible for credentialing recovery support providers and has developed a Code of Ethics to help ensure that clients receive the highest quality of care. It will be convening a statewide Board of Ethics in the near future.  If you are a recovery support services provider who is interested in serving on the board, e-mail our ATR coordinator, Sular Gordon at s.gordon.ccfc@att.net
